realme review 6

NDTV Gadgets 360 Hindi
Realme started the year with several new models in the budget segment and entirely new flagships that support 5G. The company is now launching a series of upgrades to the Realme 5 series, which includes Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro. Realme 6 is the affordable phone in this series, which has a perforated display with 90Hz refresh rate. This is the first Reality budget device to use a high refresh rate display. Even a mobile phone with a 90 Hz display is not available on the market at this price. The phone comes with a powerful MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, which was seen earlier in the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Here, however, we are a little surprised by the price of this phone. The starting price of Realme 6 in India is 12,999 rupees. The price of the phone is a bit high, but will the phone impress us with its features to justify this price? To understand this, we reviewed Realme 6. Is this the best budget smartphone you should buy without waiting? Let’s know.

realme design 6

Instead of Sunrise Design offered for its low-cost model, Realme gave a new Comet design to this phone. The gradient coating is given in the back of the Realme 6, where the stripes are visible when the light falls. All these lines start at the top and gather as a protrusion in the charging port at the bottom. Overall, it gives a first-class look to the phone.

The Realme 6 has a 6.5-inch display that is similar to the Realme 5. Although the new phone has no slots. Instead, the company has given a design with perforation, which this time is in vogue. This perforation cutout is in the left corner of the display. There are thin frames on the side of the display, but the chin at the bottom is quite thick.

The edges of the Realme 6 are rounded so it doesn’t sting in the palm of your hand. The back of the phone is slightly curved, which makes it comfortable to hold. This time Realme chose a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the budget phone, which is located on the right side of the device. We liked the location, as the thumb comfortably reaches the power button / fingerprint sensor when you hold the smartphone in your right hand. If you are used to using the phone with your left hand, you may need to register the finger and thumb of your left hand to unlock the smartphone.

realme

Reality has placed the volume buttons on the left side and placed them slightly down, which makes them easy to press. The SIM tray is located just above the volume buttons. We noticed that the phone comes with a thickness of 9.6 mm, which looks really thick. The phone has a 4300 mAh battery. The weight of this phone is 191 grams. The USB Type-C port is given below in the Realme phone. Along with the Type-C port, there is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack and speaker grille.

Like most recently launched smartphones, the four-camera camera setup is given in the back of the Realme 6. The module is a bit wide and raised, but has a metal outline everywhere, which we hope will protect the module from scratches. The back cover of the phone is not glass, so there may be slight scratches. Realme gave a transparent case in the box. You can use this case to protect against light scratches.

Realme 6 specifications and software

Reality 6 has a 6.5-inch full-HD + display, which was not in the previous model. The focus of the display is the refresh rate of 90 Hz included in it. The high refresh rate improves your experience. The company has set this refresh rate automatically, which automatically sets the phone between 60 Hz and 90 Hz, but if you want to set its refresh rate according to you, then you have this option. The density of the display is 405 ppi, and the screen-to-body ratio of Realme 6 is 90.5 percent due to drilling holes. Gorilla Glass 3 is given to protect the front display, which is undoubtedly a little old technology.

Reality 6 starts with MediaTek Helio G90T processor. This is a powerful chipset that we have seen in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. This processor has two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05 GHz and six cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. The reality phone is available in three versions. Its 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage cost Rs 12,999. The price of the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage option and the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage option is Rs 14,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively. The smartphone comes with UFS 2.1 storage. We looked at the 8 GB RAM option on this phone.

In terms of connectivity, this phone offers Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi ac and three navigation systems. This is a dual SIM device that includes VoLTE support along with 4G. This includes all common sensors.

realme

Speaking of software, Realme has given Realme its own user interface instead of CustomOS custom skin with some changes. Realme’s new user interface is based on Android 10. Our device worked with the February security fix.

The user interface gives a somewhat standard feel for Android and we found it easy to use. The Settings app is well designed and we didn’t have to bother to find the option. The Realme user interface is also available with features such as Digital Wellbeing, Focus Mode, Dark Mode and Riding Mode. Realme comes with audio in two modes, which allows you to connect Bluetooth and cable headphones to your smartphone at the same time, but this feature is currently listed in Realme Lab.

We also found some pre-installed i-apps on the device such as Facebook, Dailyhunt, Gaana, Helo, Opera News, UC Browser, WPS Office and some Google apps. It also comes pre-installed with some of Realme’s apps, such as Realme Store, Community, Game Center, Game Space and its own app store called App Market. Commodity applications such as the browser constantly give notifications that we had to disable after we got upset.

Realme 6 performance and battery life

Of course, it’s interesting to read the Reality 6 specification. The refresh rate of 90 Hz in the phone makes the interface very smooth. We found that this display was a little reflective of sunlight, but the panel was bright enough that we had no problems viewing the contents of the display. We also found that its viewing angles are decent.

The Realme 6 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which means that the fingerprint sensor is also set to the power button. He is able to unlock the phone with accuracy and speed and we really liked his work. We also set up Face Recognition, which recognizes faces and unlocks the phone. This feature also unlocks the phone very quickly. Unlocking your smartphone requires very little effort once the wake-up feature is activated.

realme

We were pleased with the performance of Realme 6, as we never had to wait long to load the applications. With 8 GB of RAM on the device, it does not allow applications to be killed in the background and you can easily perform several tasks in it. It also takes much less time to load the application.

MediaTek advertised the Helio G90 series as game processors and we were curious to see how Realme 6 would perform in terms of games. We played PUBG Mobile on the smartphone and it works with high settings and high frame rate by default with graphics set to HD. We did not notice a slowdown or drop in the frame while playing the game in these settings. After about 20 minutes we noticed that the smartphone became a little warm to the touch.

realme

The battery life of the Realme 6 is quite good. It managed to last 19 hours and 26 minutes in our HD video cycle. In our use Realme 6 lasts a day and a half on a single charge. The box has a 30W fast charger. When used, the phone charges up to 65 percent in 30 minutes and takes more than an hour to fully charge.

Realme 6 cameras

The back of the Reality 6 has a 64-megapixel main camera. In addition, the rear camera setup includes an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 119-degree field of view, a 2-megapixel monochrome camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens. There is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter in the front. The camera software is very similar to that of other mid-range smartphones. We had no problems switching between different shooting modes in the Camera app. Quick switches for HDR, filters and Chroma Boost are provided. AI detects the scene.

realme
realme

Realme 6 focuses quickly and measures light well in most scenes. In daylight, the phone’s camera takes some decent pictures, and the photos don’t lack detail even when zoomed in. In bright scenes, Realme 6 HDR mode is activated automatically. The default photos are 16 megapixels, but you can take photos by plugging 64-megapixel mode into it.

There is also a wide-angle Reality 6 camera. However, this camera is not as good in the dynamic range compared to the main camera. The photos can capture a very large area, but the photos taken with this show a lack of detail and quality. In addition, the edges of the picture are also slightly distorted.

realme
realme

For close-ups, Realme 6 also has a depth sensor that blurs the background quite well. The camera focuses quickly, so the photos are good. Portrait mode also allows you to set the blur level before taking a picture. The camera detects the exact edge of the subject.

The macro camera lacks autofocus, but you can easily take a picture by getting too close to the subject. He managed to take decent pictures while shooting indoors.

realme
realme

The quality of the camera drops slightly in low light. You’ll get some good-looking photos even in low light, but the photos lack detail when zoomed in. Night mode works great in low light and provides great output by adding a few shots together. The details can also be seen in photos taken with night mode.

realme

Selfies taken with Realme 6 also have good details. However, beautification is enabled by default. For a natural-looking way out, you’ll need to turn beautification on or off. These photos were good enough to be shared on social media.

Recording can be done at 4K resolution from the main camera and 1080 pixels from the selfie camera. In addition, users can record 1080p at 60 frames per second with the main camera. Videos are stable at 1080p, but not at 4K. We also noticed a slight flickering effect in the video, shot in low light.

Sentence

Realme again gave a great smartphone at a reasonable price. The Realme 6 comes with a powerful processor, offers good battery life and also comes with a 30W fast charger in the box. The company has also improved Realme’s user interface, but we want the company to reduce bloating (unwanted applications) in the future. If you are looking for a device with a price / quality ratio below 15,000 Rs or so, then you can wait a while while Xiaomi launches the Redmi Note 9 series. Although we believe that you will be satisfied with Reality 6.

iQoo Neo 6 Review: A Powerful Phone at a Reasonable Price!

Published

on

NDTV Gadgets 360 Hindi
iQoo has launched the Neo series in India along with the Neo 6. In this tough competitive segment under Rs 30k, the company has launched the phone with full gear. It carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip, offers 80W fast charging and sports a 120Hz AMOLED display. The charging speed given by the company in this price range is really commendable. It is rare in this segment. But do all these features make the iQoo Neo 6 a phone that can’t be beat? My first impressions of the phone were positive and now it’s time to find out if it’s as good as it looks or not.

iQOO Neo 6 Price in India

The iQoo Neo 6 is priced at Rs 29,999 in India, which comes with the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model. Its top model comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which costs Rs 33,999. The iQoo Neo 6 can be purchased in Dark Nova and Cyber Rays colors.

iku neo 6 design

The iQoo Neo 6 phone is a rebranded model of the iQoo Neo 6 SE that was launched in China earlier this year. Neo 6 is a large smartphone in terms of dimensions and weighs 190 grams. The phone has a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design at the top for the selfie camera. Display bezels are thin. The frame of the phone is made of plastic and is kept flat on top and bottom.

iqoo

iQoo has added an IR (infrared) emitter that sits near the secondary microphone on the top. At the bottom there is a slot for a USB Type C port, a speaker and a SIM tray. The back panel is made of plastic with curved sides. The phone is quite comfortable to hold. Its right side is narrow and carries a thin power button and volume rocker.

The dark new color of the phone looks quite elegant. It has a gradient finish that shows a mixed shade of dark blue and bright blue. If you want a flashier phone, then you can also check out its Cyber Rage variant. The phone’s camera module will grab your attention. It has a two-tiered design on which the Neo branding is placed, which is seen separately.

The company has also provided a transparent case inside the phone box. The back panel has a matte finish, so fingerprints don’t fall off so easily. You also get a USB Type C to 3.5mm audio adapter, which is a good thing.

iQoo Neo 6 Specifications and Software

Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC is provided in iQoo Neo 6 which is the most powerful processor for this price range. The Mi 11X competes directly with this phone, which has a similar chip. iQoo says it has included a liquid cooling system in the phone to keep the processor cool.

The Neo 6 has a Full HD Plus E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 360Hz touch sample rate that can go up to 1200Hz in some games. The display is also HDR10+ certified and its brightness is 800 nits. iQoo has also provided stereo speakers in the Neo 6, but the phone does not have an IP rating.

iqoo

This iQoo phone supports Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, four 5G bands, dual 4G VoLTE and five satellite navigation systems. You don’t get NFC in this. iQoo Neo 6 has a 4700mAh battery and supports up to 80W fast charging. You also get a compatible charger in the box.

Talking about the software, it runs on Funtouch OS 12 which is based on Android 12. The company has promised two years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates with the phone. Its user interface is almost similar to Vivo X80 which I reviewed recently. Too bad I have the same experience with bloated software in this as well. Some applications may be uninstalled. The browser keeps sending spam notifications throughout the day which is quite annoying.

iQoo Neo 6 performance and battery life

iQoo Neo 6 has a powerful processor and there is no lag in the phone even with prolonged use. I had its 12GB variant on which I could multitask, switching between apps very comfortably. I didn’t see any apps reloading at any point. The phone has an extended RAM feature and can use up to 4GB of system memory as RAM.

I enjoyed watching videos on the phone’s AMOLED display. Stereo speakers make the experience even better. The refresh rate is high, so scrolling is smooth in apps and menus. The company has set the Smart Switch refresh rate as the default. It runs at 120Hz most of the time at this setting.

iqoo

iQoo Neo 6 has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is quite reliable and never gets damaged during use. FaceUnlock also works in a similar way. The phone scored well in benchmarks. Its AnTuTu score is higher than the OnePlus Nord 2 with 729,331 points. In Geekbench 5, it scored 983 and 3074 points in single and multi-core. In the GFXBench graph, it scored 50fps in the Car Chase test. Users who want good performance, this phone will not disappoint in terms of results.

I played Call of Duty: Mobile on it, which by default was running on very high graphics and had the frame rate set to high by default. I played the game for 20 minutes in which the battery dropped by 5%. The phone didn’t heat up, which explains its liquid cooling capability.

I loved the battery performance of this phone and it lasted comfortably for one and a half days. In the HD video cycle test, the phone lasted 21 hours and 17 minutes, which is quite impressive. Its 80W fast charger charged the phone 83% in 30 minutes and the phone was fully charged within 50 minutes.

iQOO Neo 6K camera

The iQoo Neo 6 features a triple camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel primary lens with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 116-degree field of view, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel camera. The camera app is very easy to use and looks similar to the Vivo X80 app. The main camera takes 16-megapixel photos by default, but you can click full-resolution photos if needed.

His daylight landscape photos were accompanied by detail and subjects were easily recognizable even from a distance. Words written on distant buildings can also be read. AI optimization is available in the phone which improves the contrast in the output. The ultra-wide camera has a wider field of view and gets the same color profile as the main camera.

iqoo
iqoo

The phone takes close-up photos with clear and full details. This creates a natural bokeh effect between the background and the subject. Edge detection was good in portrait mode. The macro camera also captured extremely close-up shots.

iqoo
iqoo

The phone proved to be very fast when shooting a low-light scene, for which it held the shutter open for a long time. Thanks to this, the image was captured with a clear and detailed picture. In very dark areas, the phone itself suggested switching to night mode.

iqoo
iqoo

The phone’s sensor captures the selfie in full resolution. The app adds a beautification filter by default, but it can also be adjusted or disabled if needed. In daylight, the skin tone is accurate to the photo. In low light, the screen flash is activated automatically for better results. Edge detection was good in selfies taken in portrait mode and the level of background blur was also adequate.

iqoo
iqoo

Its primary rear camera can shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second. Its selfie camera can also shoot videos at this resolution and frame rate, which is rare. Footage was fairly stable in daylight, but motion in low light was a bit shaky. The camera app has a dual video mode so that the main and selfie cameras can record videos at the same time.

our solution

If you are looking for a 30k budget smartphone then you can keep this phone high on your list. The phone’s performance is pretty good, as you’d expect from a device with a Qualcomm chip. The promise of Android and security updates makes it future proof. In my opinion, its base 8GB variant seems better value for money.

I don’t have many complaints about it other than the pre-installed bloatware on the phone. If you pick up the phone for video recording purposes, then be aware that it doesn’t perform as well in low light.

If you want pure software, you can look at the Motorola Edge 30. If you can’t compromise on performance, go for the Mi 11X and OnePlus Nord 2, which are good alternatives in the same price range.
