Samsung Galaxy M31 design
At first glance, it is difficult to distinguish between Samsung Galaxy M30s and Galaxy M31. Both smartphones feature a 6.4-inch water-drop slot display that Samsung calls the Infinity-U Display. Its frames are not thin, but you can’t expect much from it for the price. Like other M-series smartphones, Samsung has made the body of the Galaxy M31 using plastic. The handset is quite thin and is placed in the frame just above the display.
Galaxy M31 feels comfortable to hold in your hand. Its sides are slightly curved, which makes the grip of the phone good. Samsung has given power and volume buttons on the right side of the device. Thumb access to the power button is easy, but the volume button could have been adjusted in a better place. On the left is the SIM card tray, which did not close properly in our review module. The 3.5mm headphone jack, main microphone, USB Type-C port and speaker options in the Galaxy M31 are set below. Only the secondary microphone is given on the upper side.
When you look at the Galaxy M31 from the back, you will definitely notice some changes. The camera module is similar to that of the Galaxy M30, but now comes with an additional fourth camera. The module has a fingerprint scanner. Once you hold the smartphone in your hand, the finger easily reaches this fingerprint.
Samsung Galaxy M31 has a massive battery of 6000 mAh and weighs 191 grams. The presence of a large battery definitely makes the device feel heavy. Samsung has also included a 15W charger in the box, which charges the battery a little faster than a standard charger. The company introduced the Galaxy M31 in two colors – Ocean Blue and Space Black. We had a review of the Space Black version, which captures fingerprints very easily.
Samsung Galaxy M31 specifications
The specification of the Galaxy A31 is very similar to the Galaxy M30. The smartphone comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with full HD + resolution. There is also Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, which protects the Galaxy phone from scratches. The display has good viewing angles and performs well even in outdoor lighting.
Samsung has kept the Exynos 9611 chipset included in the Galaxy M30s in this phone as well. It is an octa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A73 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores with a maximum clock speed of 1.7GHz. There is a Mali-G72 GPU for graphics. You get options from 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage option and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage option in the phone. Both are priced at Rs 15,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively. However, Samsung gives a discount of 1000 Rs for this phone for a while, after which their price rises to Rs 14,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively. No information is currently available on the validity of this offer.
Galaxy M31 has two nano-SIM slots and includes support for 4G as well as VoLTE. It also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Its storage can be expanded up to 512 GB via a microSD card.
Speaking of software, the phone comes with One UI 2.0 based on Android 10. The software is exactly the same as what we saw in the recently released Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite. We also found some unwanted applications on the Galaxy M31. In addition to applications from Google, Netflix, Facebook, Candy Crush Saga and Samsung Max were pre-installed on the smartphone. The phone also has Samsung’s own applications. These include My Galaxy and Samsung Shop. We found My Galaxy to be an annoying app as it sends a lot of notifications throughout the day.
We advise you to be careful while setting up the device. Samsung asks you for permission during setup. You need to be a little careful here, because according to these permissions, Samsung will also send you marketing notifications. You will also be given the option to install some applications during the setup process, which we recommend you skip.
The Galaxy M31 also comes with Android 10 features like Dark Mode and Focus Mode, which can be activated very easily via the notification panel. Dolby Atmos is also available, but only works with headphones. Digital Wellbeing and parental controls are also present on the device. In addition to common gestures such as double-tap to wake up, a screenshot with a gesture is also available in the Galaxy M31.
Samsung Galaxy M31 performance and battery life
Samsung has provided 6 GB of RAM in the Galaxy M31, which is very useful for multitasking. We found no delay in using the smartphone. The device loads applications quite quickly, but large applications take some time. Due to the availability of more RAM, multitasking in the Galaxy M31 is quite easy.
The fingerprint scanner makes unlocking the smartphone faster, and the selfie camera also recognizes faces with ease and accuracy. We enjoyed watching the contents of the AMOLED display. With Widevine L1 support, you can conveniently stream full HD content.
We also played PUBG Mobile on the Galaxy M31 and the game runs at high graphics settings with HD default resolution. There was no problem playing the game in these settings. After playing for 20 minutes we saw a 4% drop in battery. Apart from that, there was a slight warmth in the device, but not much. The large battery will give you a chance to play for a long time. In our HD video cycle test, this phone lasted 22 hours and 31 minutes. In our use, the battery lasts two days without any problems. If battery life is important to you, the Galaxy M31 will definitely not disappoint.
Samsung Galaxy M31 cameras
Galaxy M31 has a four-camera camera on the back and a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front. The rear camera setup of the Galaxy M31 has a 64-megapixel main camera sensor, which is available with an aperture of f / 1.8. This camera takes 16-megapixel bin photos by default, but you can easily switch to full resolution. The setting also includes an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera lens with a 123-degree field of view that has an aperture of f / 2.2. The other two cameras come with a 5-megapixel depth sensor and a 5-megapixel macro lens. Samsung’s camera app remains the same as before. It is easy to use and easy to access all the features included in it. There is an option to switch between the main and wide angle cameras. The Scene Optimizer is able to detect scenes and adjust the camera accordingly.
We found that the Galaxy M31 locks the focus on objects easily. The photos came out well in it and there are no missing details. The smartphone activates HDR when needed. Switching to a wide-angle camera is easy and allows you to capture a larger area of the camera frame than a standard one. Although the photos taken with this look good, but when approached, there are no details. The rounding effect is also visible on the edges of wide-angle photos.
Galaxy M31 separates the subject and the background well and gives the effect of natural blur during close-up shooting. However, we felt that the bright colors look brighter in it. The macro camera also takes good pictures, but the quality of the camera deteriorates in low indoor light.
Portrait photos are good and the camera app allows you to set the blur effect before taking the photo. Recognition of the edges of the camera is also very good and Galaxy M31 does a good job of separating objects from the background.
The Galaxy M31 takes longer to lock in focus in low light, so you need to keep your phone steady while taking pictures. Photos taken in low light look good, but you will notice a grainy effect in the photo when you zoom in. However, this effect can be slightly reduced by night mode.
Selfies taken with the Galaxy M31 are also good. Although it performs well in sufficient light, the quality drops completely in low light and the grainy effect is seen in selfies.
The video can be made in 4K resolution both through the main rear camera and through the selfie. Galaxy M31 provides a good recording output during the day. However, we found that the footage was a bit shaky. There is a Super Steady mode that uses a wide angle camera and reduces vibration a bit. We got a pretty stable output using this mode, but there were no details in the video. You will not get any stabilization feature if you make videos in 4K.
Samsung has achieved decent success with the Galaxy M30s, which may be one of the reasons why the company has not made major changes to the phone. The company has upgraded the RAM in the phone compared to before and has added a quadruple rear camera setting by adding an additional rear camera. In addition, it was given a pre-installed Android 10. Galaxy M31 can not feel like a completely new device. This can largely be seen as a minor update to the Galaxy M30s.
The phone includes a processor with Exynos 9611 chipset, but we would be happier if this phone had a more powerful processor to beat the competition. Sure, some upgrades make this phone a little better, but it can’t be called a big upgrade over the previous smartphone.
The strong backup battery of the phone is still the highlight of this series. The phone can easily last two days on a single charge, which competing phones at this price cannot easily do. Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme X2 still provide you with extremely powerful hardware for the price, but if you do not care about the results of the comparison test and just want a device that comfortably covers basic needs and with a huge battery. If so, then the Galaxy M31 is a good option for you.

iQoo Neo 6 Review: A Powerful Phone at a Reasonable Price!
iQOO Neo 6 Price in India
The iQoo Neo 6 is priced at Rs 29,999 in India, which comes with the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model. Its top model comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which costs Rs 33,999. The iQoo Neo 6 can be purchased in Dark Nova and Cyber Rays colors.
iku neo 6 design
The iQoo Neo 6 phone is a rebranded model of the iQoo Neo 6 SE that was launched in China earlier this year. Neo 6 is a large smartphone in terms of dimensions and weighs 190 grams. The phone has a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design at the top for the selfie camera. Display bezels are thin. The frame of the phone is made of plastic and is kept flat on top and bottom.
iQoo has added an IR (infrared) emitter that sits near the secondary microphone on the top. At the bottom there is a slot for a USB Type C port, a speaker and a SIM tray. The back panel is made of plastic with curved sides. The phone is quite comfortable to hold. Its right side is narrow and carries a thin power button and volume rocker.
The dark new color of the phone looks quite elegant. It has a gradient finish that shows a mixed shade of dark blue and bright blue. If you want a flashier phone, then you can also check out its Cyber Rage variant. The phone’s camera module will grab your attention. It has a two-tiered design on which the Neo branding is placed, which is seen separately.
The company has also provided a transparent case inside the phone box. The back panel has a matte finish, so fingerprints don’t fall off so easily. You also get a USB Type C to 3.5mm audio adapter, which is a good thing.
iQoo Neo 6 Specifications and Software
Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC is provided in iQoo Neo 6 which is the most powerful processor for this price range. The Mi 11X competes directly with this phone, which has a similar chip. iQoo says it has included a liquid cooling system in the phone to keep the processor cool.
The Neo 6 has a Full HD Plus E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 360Hz touch sample rate that can go up to 1200Hz in some games. The display is also HDR10+ certified and its brightness is 800 nits. iQoo has also provided stereo speakers in the Neo 6, but the phone does not have an IP rating.
This iQoo phone supports Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, four 5G bands, dual 4G VoLTE and five satellite navigation systems. You don’t get NFC in this. iQoo Neo 6 has a 4700mAh battery and supports up to 80W fast charging. You also get a compatible charger in the box.
Talking about the software, it runs on Funtouch OS 12 which is based on Android 12. The company has promised two years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates with the phone. Its user interface is almost similar to Vivo X80 which I reviewed recently. Too bad I have the same experience with bloated software in this as well. Some applications may be uninstalled. The browser keeps sending spam notifications throughout the day which is quite annoying.
iQoo Neo 6 performance and battery life
iQoo Neo 6 has a powerful processor and there is no lag in the phone even with prolonged use. I had its 12GB variant on which I could multitask, switching between apps very comfortably. I didn’t see any apps reloading at any point. The phone has an extended RAM feature and can use up to 4GB of system memory as RAM.
I enjoyed watching videos on the phone’s AMOLED display. Stereo speakers make the experience even better. The refresh rate is high, so scrolling is smooth in apps and menus. The company has set the Smart Switch refresh rate as the default. It runs at 120Hz most of the time at this setting.
iQoo Neo 6 has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is quite reliable and never gets damaged during use. FaceUnlock also works in a similar way. The phone scored well in benchmarks. Its AnTuTu score is higher than the OnePlus Nord 2 with 729,331 points. In Geekbench 5, it scored 983 and 3074 points in single and multi-core. In the GFXBench graph, it scored 50fps in the Car Chase test. Users who want good performance, this phone will not disappoint in terms of results.
I played Call of Duty: Mobile on it, which by default was running on very high graphics and had the frame rate set to high by default. I played the game for 20 minutes in which the battery dropped by 5%. The phone didn’t heat up, which explains its liquid cooling capability.
I loved the battery performance of this phone and it lasted comfortably for one and a half days. In the HD video cycle test, the phone lasted 21 hours and 17 minutes, which is quite impressive. Its 80W fast charger charged the phone 83% in 30 minutes and the phone was fully charged within 50 minutes.
iQOO Neo 6K camera
The iQoo Neo 6 features a triple camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel primary lens with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 116-degree field of view, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel camera. The camera app is very easy to use and looks similar to the Vivo X80 app. The main camera takes 16-megapixel photos by default, but you can click full-resolution photos if needed.
His daylight landscape photos were accompanied by detail and subjects were easily recognizable even from a distance. Words written on distant buildings can also be read. AI optimization is available in the phone which improves the contrast in the output. The ultra-wide camera has a wider field of view and gets the same color profile as the main camera.
The phone takes close-up photos with clear and full details. This creates a natural bokeh effect between the background and the subject. Edge detection was good in portrait mode. The macro camera also captured extremely close-up shots.
The phone proved to be very fast when shooting a low-light scene, for which it held the shutter open for a long time. Thanks to this, the image was captured with a clear and detailed picture. In very dark areas, the phone itself suggested switching to night mode.
The phone’s sensor captures the selfie in full resolution. The app adds a beautification filter by default, but it can also be adjusted or disabled if needed. In daylight, the skin tone is accurate to the photo. In low light, the screen flash is activated automatically for better results. Edge detection was good in selfies taken in portrait mode and the level of background blur was also adequate.
Its primary rear camera can shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second. Its selfie camera can also shoot videos at this resolution and frame rate, which is rare. Footage was fairly stable in daylight, but motion in low light was a bit shaky. The camera app has a dual video mode so that the main and selfie cameras can record videos at the same time.
If you are looking for a 30k budget smartphone then you can keep this phone high on your list. The phone’s performance is pretty good, as you’d expect from a device with a Qualcomm chip. The promise of Android and security updates makes it future proof. In my opinion, its base 8GB variant seems better value for money.
I don’t have many complaints about it other than the pre-installed bloatware on the phone. If you pick up the phone for video recording purposes, then be aware that it doesn’t perform as well in low light.
If you want pure software, you can look at the Motorola Edge 30. If you can’t compromise on performance, go for the Mi 11X and OnePlus Nord 2, which are good alternatives in the same price range.

Now the company has announced the new model of this smartphone, Nokia G11 Plus. However, the addition of the Plus to this Nokia smartphone isn’t really an upgrade over the original model when it comes to specs.
